Webinar Playback - New Gallery Features

Yesterday we had a great webinar on how the new Gallery Widgets really enhance the ability to customize your site. The new galleries offer much more flexibility in displaying your images with much less work. Here are a few highlights of the new galleries features.

• You can now have your page background within a Style Group feed from a gallery. This means if you want your background to transition while playing a slideshow you can do this with a single page, versus a bunch of pages.
• Display multiple galleries on the same page pulling from the same or different series of images. This is a nice feature to replace the traditional gallery launch page, allowing you to replace the static images with galleries.
  
• Seamlessly transition from gallery to gallery without the display area requiring a reload on your page. This creates a clean transition from gallery to gallery when viewing your website.

Also, keep an eye out for a Showit update that adds more features to the galleries widget coming soon. That update will include some cool features on embedding controls for the galleries. As always, software updates are free and will be included as soon as you confirm installing the new version.

Webinar Playback - Building a Client Site

We had a great webinar last Friday with over 50 people on how a photographer can build a client website from scratch! Thanks to everyone that joined in because we had some really great questions and interactions.

I realized after the webinar it probably was a misleading title as some of you had never used Showit. If you joined us and are new to Showit I'm sure you felt a little overwhelmed with how fast topics got covered, so I apologize for that. We do have some great Showit Tutorials you can watch that will guide you through how to setup your site.

Showit 2.0 Widgets Webinar Playback

We've added a cool new feature to the recorded webinars by including some markers for you to quickly reference specific material for play back. Note the arrows with text at the bottom of this screen shot.
Also, remember that we have another webinar tomorrow hosted by DJ on building a website from scratch. You can register here. We encourage everyone to join. Our example will be how a wedding photographer can quickly build a basic site for a bride and groom. This can be a great added service that you can include as part of unique offering to your customers. But we will be covering all the basics of starting a website from scratch, so if are not a photographer and you want to build a site but haven't started hopefully this will be a great opportunity get you started!

Interview with Dave Cross Online

We were pretty stoked when Dave Cross from dave cross online did a blog post about Showit, and then even more stoked when he asked to interview DJ on his blog. For those of you that don't know Dave he is the Director of Curriculum for the National Association of Photoshop Professionals (NAPP), so he is a pretty smart guy...and he's a pretty nice guy.

Thanks to everyone that made the Showit v2.0 webinar so awesome! It ended up lasting over an hour and had more that 150 people! As an added bonus for you enjoyment you can catch DJ's antics while he got bored during some of the "tech talk".

And remember you can check out all the Showit Tutorials if you have questions on building your website, or join in the community at Club Showit and ask questions you have.

I was totally overwhelmed (in a good way) with the response after having about 80 questions in the first minute of the webinar. We know that means we need to do more education, but we also realized that means people are using it!

Since we obviously were not able to answer every question we will be having a more webinars next week. I'll post up a schedule later so keep an eye out. We've reviewed all the questions from Tuesday and will be doing some focused 30 minute webinars on specific topics.

I can't end this without a HUGE thanks to everyone who has downloaded Showit. Since releasing Showit Free not even a week ago there have been almost 2000 new signups! We are super grateful to everyone who is using and evangelizing Showit!   After feedback from all of you we created a place to bring together the community of Showit users to interact with each other inside the app! We hope you will share ideas, questions, and get feedback on your website. You can also view Club Showit directly via the web, but we felt putting it inside the app made it that much easier to use.
  
  
• Updated Galleries Widget
  The process of building galleries is now much easier. We've also changed how the galleries load so each image loads faster for your viewers.
  
  
• Updated Share Feature
  We've redesigned a bunch of the areas in the app with you in mind! A big one is the Share feature allowing you to embed content from your Showit website to your blog, Facebook profile, SmugMug page, or all of the above. It's now easier than ever to link your web presence together!
