Get Smart - Showit Wiki

Because we love our users so much, and because are users are so helpful we are super excited to announce the launch of the Showit Wiki! How about SWiki for short...

To make things simple we've putt a yellow question mark all over the place inside Showit so you can launch the Wiki and check out how a specific feature works. You can also access the Wiki from the "Help" menu and "User Manual Wiki" or go to wiki.showitfast.com.

We have a pretty good feeling that you'll be as excited about this feature as we are.

We have invested a lot of time into documenting a bunch of the features in Showit, but the beauty of a Wiki is it is continually growing and evolving because it's a living resource. So....

Calling all Showit Evangelists!

We really want your help in making the Wiki more valuable by participating in this ever growing documentation. You have to register in order to add content and all content will be reviewed and edited for accuracy. The Showit Wiki back-end is the same one that Wikipedia uses so the layout should be familiar. If you've never edited a Wiki before keep an eye out for a Webinar on how to use and add content to the Showit Wiki. We'll also soon be putting an instruction page up on how to add content to the Showit Wiki. Happy wiki-ing!

Showit in Multiple Languages

Showit now has translations into German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, and Swedish! It's a huge task to get the entire software into another language and there are still aspects to each language that could use a little work. If you use Showit in another language we would appreciate any feedback and let us know how we can improve the translations. Check out this page for more information on translations in Showit.

Get in Line - Showit Grid Feature

I know some of you out there almost spilled coffee on your computer out of excitement for this feature. Get your happy dance out of the way and sit back down to play with the new grid! We heard it loud and clear that you wanted a better grid for lining up your site so here you are.

Our dev dudes did some rocket science and what not and made the new grid centered which is really useful. It's also way easier to turn on/off and resize directly from the bottom control bar. Also, for those of you who drink to much coffee and have the caffeine shakes check out the new snap feature so you too can get your layers in line without holding your breath.

So get in-line because with all these new features were pretty sure a bunch more sites are going to end up on showitloves.com.

Showit SUPER Zoom

WARNING: Objects on screen are closer than they actually appear.

I know, you're up again doing your happy dance. Showit not only gives you complete Control of your website but we offer a complete workout program with every new release.
Sit down and play with the new ZOOOOOOOM and literally blow up your site. Click on the magnifying glass and fine tune adjustments and alignments to the layers on your page. The scrollbars on the bottom and right allow you to move around when you are zoomed in. Clicking on the magnifying glass again returns to auto-zoom, resizing everything to fit on your screen.

DIG Showit Rocked!

Man it's been a busy week here at Showit Fast! But it's the kind of busy that just makes us love what we do. This week we had the first ever Designer Insight Group (DIG). What is DIG you ask? Well, we had a bunch of designers out there using Showit to build websites. They are awesome websites, but we knew there was so much more in Showit they were not using. We also really wanted to talk directly with designers to listen and make Showit even better.

Being the first DIG we were unsure of the response and what designers would be looking for. The week completely exceeded our expectation. We had a killer time and the interaction from the designers was awesome. Thanks to the mad Showit skills of Todd and Brett, the designers had the opportunity to drink from the fire hose for two days and learn about some great features in Showit. We had some fun "ah-ha" moments and some funny "ah-ha" moments. During one of the sessions Todd double-clicked on an image from the floating media library to add it to the stage, which no-body (including me) knew you could do. Everybody asked, "When did you add that feature?" I suppose it's the small things in life that matter.

One of the really cool things we announced was the Showit Wiki. We are adding a bit more content before officially launching it, but it's coming very soon! We are using the same back end system as Wikipedia, so hopefully everyone will find it easy to navigate. I'm really stoked because it allows our community of users to continue and help build the learning that happens. Of course Showit will be cranking away and adding new topics all the time as well.

In traditional fashion everyone bunked up at The Freedom House and we had a great time. We are so grateful to the designers that joined us and can't wait for the next DIG Showit. It could be coming to a city near you! If you're a designer and would be interested in joining at DIG Showit shoot me an email.

Showit Updated!

Tonight we launched an update to Showit to introduce a few new features and squash some minor bugs. If you haven't already... open up Showit and you should be prompted to install this latest update.

One of the new features added gives you the ability to control the latest galleries with any text or image you want to. Now you can advance the images in a gallery... advance the thumbnails... play... or pause... with whatever layer best fits your site. In the Link tab for any layer... check the Action radio button... match up the target with your thumb gallery and display area... choose the action for when the user clicks... and you're done!
In addition to that, we've also added some new options for the galleries. You can choose to hide the current thumb gallery controls if you're going to take advantage of the new options mentioned above. And you now have the ability to use a highlight color that will highlight the selected thumbnail and also highlight any thumbnail you mouse over.
Another feature added that will definitely speed up organizing your site is the ability to quickly add blank style groups and pages right from the pages panel. Make sure to right click on a style group in the pages panel and you'll see the new options in the displayed menu.

And here are some of the other things you'll be happy to know we've fixed:
  • Scrolling bug for organizing lists of images in a gallery
  • Background bug with style groups
  • Scroll bar issues on smaller monitors
  • Background editing on inherited backgrounds
  • "Copy URL" uses HTML instead if deep linking for improved SEO results

We hope you enjoy this update and let us know if you run into any issues.

Thanks again!
